Virginia parents who have been ordered to pay child support are providing a wide range of benefits for their children. In addition to the basics such as food, clothing and shelter, child support payments may also provide money for a tutor or to take part in a club or a summer camp. Support payments may also provide for the special physical or emotional needs that a child may have.
Even if a child is covered by an insurance policy, there may be services that need to be paid for out of a parent’s own pocket. A child support payment may provide for some or all of these expenses. In some cases, a support payment may be used to help pay for the insurance policy used to provide coverage for a son or daughter.
If neither parent can watch a child because they have to work, child support may be used to help pay for a babysitter or some other form of child care. It may also cover the cost of transporting a son or daughter to child care or wherever else the child may need to go. Finally, it could also be used to pay for entertainment such as a trip to an amusement park or to pay for a computer with an Internet connection.
